Tagged!!!

2007 01 08_0440

What is his name? Matthew Scott Kelly
How long have you been together? 8 memorable years
How long did you date? If my memory hasn't failed me, we dated for 9 months with a two week break in there somewhere until he proposed, and then a 4 month long engagement.

How old is he? He is 31 years young!
Who eats more? Well, when he's not trying to lose weight he does hands down, but currently after dropping 20 pounds and still going, I'm probably the pig.
Who said I love you first? This is a sore subject, but yes he did, end of story.
Who is taller? He is by at least 7 inches.
Who can sing better? Let's just say neither of us would win American Idol.
Who is smarter? Matt by far, just don't ever let him know I said that.
Who does the laundry? Okay, so I did all the laundry up until about 2 years ago when Matt informed me I didn't do his laundry right, so now he does his own and I do the rest.
Who pays the bills? Matt does, the bills stress me out!!!
Who sleeps on the right side? Matt does!

Who mows the lawn? Considering I've never touched a mower in my life, I leave the mowing to my hubby and hopefully one day my children.  (Isn't that why I have 2 boys?)
Who cooks dinner? Local restaurants!?!?!

Who drives? Matt does, he doesn't like my driving.

Who is more stubborn? We are both equals when it comes to stubbornness.
Who kissed who first? Matt did!  It was one night after my roommates and I threw a murder mystery dinner at our apartment.  It was very memorable.

Who proposed? Matt did of course.  He had a whole night planned with dozens of roses, my black dress, a book, some music and dinner.  It was very romantic!
Who has more friends? I would say that I probably do, but he also has his fair share.  Everyone who meets him loves him.

Who is more sensitive? This is kinda funny, because I always tell him he doesn't have a sensitive bone in his body.  I've only seen him cry maybe twice in our marriage, and the one I remember best was when the Red Sox won the World Series...no joke!
Who has more siblings? Matt, hands down.  I have one brother and he is the oldest of 6 kids.
Who wears the pants? I would say we both do fairly equally.

I tag: Anyone who hasn't already done this one!

T-Ball Time

So, it's T-Ball time again!!! We are in the middle of the season, which seems so short here, since a lot of our practices and games get rained out due to our afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Anyway Brayden seems to be enjoying it more than he ever did soccer, but he still has an attitude like he could take it or leave it. He's definitely the brains in the family and not the jock (he's leaving that to Andrew). So here are some pictures and video of his first official game.

Crush?

Okay so my son...

This one

Not this one

2008 05 02_0831

is experiencing his first crush.  How do I know you ask?  Well, I have a few pieces of evidence...

1.  His eyes light up whenever he sees her.

2.  If he hears her name, he stops whatever he's doing and comes running.

3.  He listens to her every word, and does whatever she asks.

4.  He asks to see her SEVERAL times a day.

Who is this girl, you ask, that has my son wrapped around her tiny little finger?

Dora-the-Explorer-p07

Yes, it is the infamous Dora!!!  Andrew just can't seem to get enough of her!  I will have to break it to him some day that she's not a real person, but just a drawing on a piece of paper, until then go Andrew.

Brayden's last days of kindergarten...

Denver Zoo

So, since I've been such a slacker I will post these all under one large post.  Starting with Brayden's class field trip to the zoo.  We went on a Friday a couple weeks before school got out.  I went as a chaperone and boy was it a treat!:)  We weren't even sure that morning if we were going to be able to go because it was soooo windy. The kids were literally being blown over as they tried to walk to the bus.  We heard that Denver (where the zoo is) wasn't as bad so they decided to go anyway.  It really wasn't bad down there but it was fairly chilly.  Maybe in the 40's.  The kids had a blast though and it was a lot of fun to be able to spend the day with Brayden and his class.

Brayden's favorites were feeding the lorikeets and seeing the Kimodo (sp?) dragon.  Fun times and great memories for all!!!!

Field Day

I don't know if any of you grew up having "field day" at school, Matt said he didn't have them, but they are kind of a tradition out here in Colorado.  It's basically a track meet for the entire school.  They do long jump, triple jump, hurdles, relays, high jump, etc.  Some schools give out ribbons/awards, others t-shirts, it just depends.  It's just a fun end of the school year activity where kids get to basically have P.E. all day long.  I remember looking forward to the day.  Anyway here are some pics of Brayden's field day.  He did the 50 yard/meter? dash, hurdles, long jump, and 1/2 mile.  He didn't necessarily care if he won, he just didn't want to lose which he never did.

The hurdles were sooo cute and tiny!  I didn't get any really good shots of him jumping over them, but he didn't knock any over.:)

Kindergarten Graduation

This was so cute and they really went all out.  They wore the hats, marched in, got diplomas, etc.  They were so incredibly cute and Brayden feels so grown-up now.  He tells everyone that he has graduated from kindergarten and that he's almost a first grader.  Don't you remember those days of wanting to grow up so fast.  Now I just want to freeze time.  I'm sick of getting older!!!!!

Who forgot to give Toto the memo...

We're not in Kansas!!!!

So, I'm not sure if you all have heard about the tornadoes we had here on Thursday (and yes I said tornadoes) or not, but they were massive and caused MAJOR devastation to the town of Windsor, which is only about 6 miles away from us and where Brayden goes to school. In about a 30 mile radius of where we live there were not 1...not 2...not 3...but 7 tornadoes that touched down on Thursday, and the biggest (1 mile wide) started approximately 10 blocks or less from my house to the West of us. The funny/not so funny part of it all was I was completely clueless. Andrew and I were watching Noggin, so we weren't getting any of the severe weather alerts, and Brayden was having his last day of school IN Windsor. About 10 minutes after the tornado hit I started getting phone calls from Matt and my neighbors and friends checking in on us. The only thing I heard was a lot of wind and the satellite cut out for just a couple minutes, something that is not foreign to us this time of year.

Anyhow, I knew that Andrew and I were okay, so I turned it to the news to track the weather and pretty soon they come on saying that Windsor was the hardest hit and there are houses that were completely leveled and they start showing houses, buildings, trees, cars, etc. that have all been destroyed. So, of course I go in to panic mode, because remember Brayden is still AT school IN Windsor. So, meanwhile my neighbor calls (Brayden's BF's mom that we carpool with) and said she knows the kids were in lockdown at the school, but we can't get any more information. The power of course was out in the town, and so were the phone lines so we couldn't get in touch with the school, and the news wasn't reporting anything on the public schools. They were focused on a day care that had been hit hard in the area but that all 150 children were safe. So we finally called the police department which said they didn't have any damage or injuries reported from any of the schools, but that they were indeed in lockdown and that we couldn't go get OUR children because all roads in and out of Windsor were closed. AAAAHHHHH! I don't know how many of you mother's have had this experience or not, but it not a fun one and one I don't care to ever repeat it. So there we sat for 3 hours on pins and needles waiting for something. Finally the school called and said we could come pick up our kids. I have never gotten in a car so fast.

So we drive to the school and surprisingly on the side of town where Brayden's school is was completeley untouched. All they had was massive hail and a lot of wind. But they said when the tornado hit they had all of the kids in the halls facing the walls with their heads down and when I talked to Brayden's teacher she said he was really shaken up and kept saying he was so worried about his mom because he loved her so much. Talk about rip your heart out. Knowing that your 6 year old is completely worried that you're not going to be okay.

So even with massive amounts of damage hundreds of houses completely destroyed we had only 1 fatality and only minor injuries. Talk about miracle!!! We are so blessed!

Here's the video of the mile wide tornado less than 10 blocks from our house...

Just wanted to throw in a few pictures of Andrew's birthday.

We celebrated over a couple of different days, because Matt was working and had class on his actual birthday, but Andrew sure didn't mind.  Now, he tells me every day that it's his birthday.
