So this took longer than it appears, I only caught the tail end when he finally captured the chicken.
(P.S. Don and Janna this one was for you;))
I thought this deserved it's own post. While in Cali, we decided to take the boy's to get their haircuts and what better place than Barber Bill's. For those of you who don't know, this is where Matt and his brother's got their haircuts while growing up. We thought Bill had actually retired, but low and behold while taking pictures out front he popped out of the shop and into one of our pics. He actually cut Brayden's hair. I almost felt like I was meeting kind of a famous person, I had heard so much about him. Matt says he hasn't changed a bit and the shop looked the same. He even used some of his same old jokes. We also spotted Josh in one of the baseball pics still hanging on the walls. I think Matt enjoyed his trip down memory lane. He probably never thought all those years ago that he would one day be bringing in his own sons to get their haircuts there some day.
So, like most of my posts, this comes a week late. Brayden has now made it through his first week of first grade. So far so good! His teacher seems really nice, her name is Mrs. Doddridge which is quite a mouthful for the little ones. He came home from his first day of school all excited that they didn't have to "pull cards" this year. This is what they did in kindergarten for discipline. Everyone started on green, but if they got in trouble they would have to pull their green card, leaving them on yellow, which was their warning. If they got in trouble again they had to pull yellow, leaving them on red, and a note would be sent home. Even though he never got a note sent home last year, he did make it to yellow on a couple occasions which devastated him. So it was a sigh of relief for him when he didn't have to go through that this year. However, the next day he came home all bummed because he found out instead of pulling cards they now had to stay on their green light. Ugh!!! Not good news for Brayden. Hopefully he can keep his green light shining.
Oh, and he's riding the bus year. Another new adventure! He catches the bus at 7:05 am and doesn't get home until about 3:40 pm. That makes his bus ride an hour each way, but he loves it and has a lot of friends on the bus with him.
Here's a little riddle for you...
What do the following pictures have in common?
(this is not meant to be obscene
)
Yes when it comes to this little guy...
they are all "baskets". Anywhere there is a ball (or any other object somewhat round and throwable), and some sort of round (or resembling round) opening they become a basket and you better watch out for flying objects. Maybe his nickname should be MJ.
So Matt calls me one morning from work and says he had been given 4 tickets and a parking pass to the Rockies game, and that the seats are right behind home plate, and the game was today and he really wanted to go. It was a 1:00 game and he was going to leave work at 11:30 so that we could go. Well being a girl, and not a very spontaneous one, I had already made plans for the day and I had a whole list of "to do's" for myself. Being that me and the kids are leaving for vacation in just a few days, I really needed the time to get things done. So he says he'll just take the kids and let Brayden bring a friend. Are you crazy? I wouldn't even try that one. I tried to convince him to just waste one of the tickets and just take our boys so he could enjoy himself a little, but he insisted it would be fun and that it would be okay. So we called Brayden's friend, he was free to go, and off they went.
Here are some pictures from the event...
They had a GREAT time and haven't stopped talking about it since. I'm continually amazed at what a great man my husband is, and oh soooo brave!
So tomorrow we leave to visit family and friends for almost 3 whole weeks (Matt will meet us a week later, he can't take too much time off of work). The kids and I are going to Reno, NV for a week to visit our good friends (the Hemerson's), and then we will meet up in Cali to spend the rest of our time with Matt's parents, Jacob, Julia and kids, and Matt, Christi and hopefully baby for the remainder of our time. We CAN'T wait! We'll see some of you soon!
So this has been one crazy summer. We've been totally busy doing summer things that I haven't had time to blog about any of it. We've been keeping busy with the usual like; swimming, t-ball, going to the park, swimming, playing with friends, having friends come visit us (thanks for the fun time Janna, Aleah and Mya), going to the movies, playing miniature golf, a trip to the zoo, oh and did I mention swimming. Plus trying to stay on top of things like keeping the house clean, getting laundry done, and dishes clean. And we can't forget getting prepared for Breaking Dawn by re-reading the first 3 books! So here are some pictures from our summer adventures!
Oh yeah, I forgot about jumping on the trampolines with bungee cords at Matt's work picnic. That was awesome!
We have one more month left of summer before school starts and the best is yet to come. Can't wait to get to Cali! We'll be seeing some of you soon!:)
