Which would you choose?

Before I begin my story I need to let you know a little bit about Andrew.  He is my child with a GIGANTIC sweet tooth!  Getting him to eat dinner or pretty much anything for that matter is close to impossible, but when it comes to something sweet you can't get him to stop.  He will literally make himself SICK!

I think every mom has a story about their children that, no matter where they are or what they are doing, if they think about this story or incident it brings a smile to their face or even a chuckle...out loud.  This is my story...

Well one night Matt decided to finish a piece of leftover cheesecake that was in the fridge.  His mistake, was not waiting until Andrew went to bed before he got it out.  So, of course, Andrew sees this and comes running over.  "Can I have a bite daddy?"  Matt says, "Sure, but I'm sick so you need to go get your own spoon.  I don't want to get you sick with my germs."  "Okay, dad!", and off Andrew runs to the silverware drawer.  I'm watching this whole interaction and see Andrew open the drawer and go for the spoon, but then he stops...

He sees something out of the corner of his eye...

And instead of reaching for the "normal" spoon, he grabs this...

And with a proud smile on his face, marches over to Matt for his "bite" of cheesecake.

Now which would you choose?

A belated Easter post!

Easter was not a good one for me this year.  I spent it sprawled out on the bathroom floor praying to the porcelain gods.

I woke up fine that morning, other than feeling tired and worn out.  The kids got all dressed up so handsome in their Easter clothes and were excited to begin the hunt.  I got out the camera and the boys went about the tradition hunting for their eggs and basket (inside of course, because Colorado weather never seems to let us hunt outside).  When they were all but done, that's when my stomach did a 180 degree turn and from that point on the only place you could find me was on the bathroom floor.

Matt took the boys to church and then to my parent's house after church for a big Easter dinner.  That's about all I know as for how the rest of their Easter went.  Good thing we have family around!  They said they had a Happy Easter and I hope everyone else did too!

You can call me the Blog Slacker

I know it's been awhile.  I do have a few good excuses and some not so great ones.  So, I've had 3 blogs written that I wanted to post awhile back but I couldn't get my pictures to load onto the computer from my camera, which meant I needed to wait for Matt to figure it out.  That can sometimes take awhile being that he's busy and all.  So, he finally got them loaded for me and then things just got too busy with Andrew's birthday and our trip to Utah.  Now I'm finally sitting down to add the pictures to my blogs and post them.  So here are three very old blogs and I hope to catch you up on all the latest happenings soon ;)  (We'll see)

The Phantom of the Opera was here...

For Christmas this year I got Matt tickets to see Phantom of the Opera.  We had both seen it before, but it had been years.  We went with some friends of ours and it was just as good as we both remembered.  Our seats were only 3 rows back from the stage and off center a little bit, but it was really neat to be able to see the actors so up close and personal.

It's always great to see your pictures big and realize the shirt you are wearing makes you look pregnant.  I promise you all that I'm not.  I haven't even gained any weight...okay maybe a pound or two I don't know.

To top off our perfect day, we had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.  Yum! Yum!

We had such a good time, we are going to see Wicked in October.  Yeah, I can't wait!

A Vegas Valentine's Day

We actually celebrated Valentine's Day a week early this year.  We've started a tradition where myself and 2 of my friends plan a fun evening for our husbands.  (One of "the girl's" was having surgery the day before Valentine's day, so we needed to change the date.) You may remember the "Little Black Dress Event" from last year.  This year we celebrated Vegas style.2009 02 02_2734

Our husbands were asked to RSVP via a king card (if they'd attend) or a joker card (if they had better things to do).  The catch was they had to do so creatively.  Matt of course didn't disappoint.  The first thing he did was wake me up with a text that said, "I'm only a JOKER without you.  Having you in my life makes me a KING.  I would be honored to attend tomorrow with my QUEEN. Luv U."  (cue the AAAaaahhhs)  As my day proceeded I found King cards on virtually everything I touched...my coke in the fridge, the dog treats, my debit card in my purse, the front AND back windshields, etc.  The day ended with a single red rose and a king card attached to it.  Isn't he the cutest!?!?!

This is what our evening looked like...

We dressed somewhat like Vegas showgirls.  It's hard to tell in these pics but we had insanely long, fake eyelashes with rhinestones on. 2009 02 06_2690 2009 02 06_2688

We made virgin strawberry margaritas in big, HUGE glasses, and we ordered PF Changs for dinner.

2009 02 06_2698

We had an impromptu performance of Taylor Swift's Love Story. (I can't believe I'm posting these for the world to see.)   2009 02 06_2720 2009 02 06_2721

We then watched "What Happens In Vegas", and were going to play poker afterwards, but due to some poor choices by some children the night was cut short.  So no poker this time.

We had an awesome time though.  How was your Valentines Day?

Happy Valentine's Day!

Chirp...chirp...chirp...chirp...chirp...chirp

I swear there's a conspiracy going on.

Chirp...chirp...chirp is the sound our smoke detectors make in the MIDDLE of the NIGHT and only in the middle of the night when the batteries are dying.

                Smoke-Detector-HS-101-

Why do they go off at 2 am instead of 2 pm?

Why have 4 of them gone off in the past 3 weeks and only between the hours of 12 am and 5 am?

Why are they always in the most INCONVENIENT places?

Picture this:

-4 am chirp...chirp...chirp...chirp

-Matt and I lying in bed.  "NOT AGAIN!"  "Where is it coming from this time?" "I think it's the one on the other side of the wall." "The one we can't reach without a ladder?" "Yup!" "What are we going to do?" "I don't know?" (We don't own a ladder.)

-Matt leaves the room to make sure.

-5 minutes later he returns..."I think I'm gonna need your help so I don't kill myself."

-We walk out to the living room and I see Matt has taken one of our barstools, set it under the culprit, with 2 big pillows from our couch sitting on top of the stool.

-Me: "You really want to do this?  Matt: "What else are we going to do?"  Me: "I don't know!"

-So I grab the legs of the stool and hold on for dear life.

-He climbs up onto the stool and with such balance, grace, and some ballerina moves I've never before seen, gets up on his tip tip tippy toes and reaches for the alarm.  He can barely reach with the very tips of his fingers, but some how miraculously unscrews the thing and yanks it from the ceiling.

-TA DA!!!

I wish I had pictures.  It was quite a sight.  Now with 4 of our smoke alarms currently down, I hope we really don't have a fire before we get them functioning again.
