And your fortune is...

So here is what happens to most of us at a Chinese restaurant after we have finished our meal...

The waiter/waitress brings us out a plate or tray of fortune cookies which usually looks something like this:

fortune6

Then everyone grabs a cookie, not really because they want to eat it, but more importantly because they want to see what the future holds.  So we then rip open our cookies, pull out the little white papers, and take turns reading what's soon to come.  We hope for love, success, fortune, health, etc. but usually end up reading something like this:

What?

I didn't know I had a creative side?

What social skills?

I didn't think I underestimated myself?

My point here is they never seem to apply to us and sometimes you get ones that aren't even fortunes at all. They tell you things like, "Those who know you admire you for your sense of humor".  Great!  Now where's my fortune?

Then there's Matt (A.K.A. "Golden Boy" as some of his friends like to refer to him)

Fortune cookie rules don't seem to apply to him.  First of all he doesn't grab his fortune cookie like everyone else.  Instead he waits patiently as everyone else takes their cookie and then takes the last one on the plate.  He thinks somehow 'Divine Intervention' is at work here..."This is THE cookie/fortune I was meant to have."  Then he cracks open his cookie to find this:

fortune7

Okay, maybe not exactly.

But he does find this:

and another one, that I couldn't find in his wallet, but he did carry around in there for a LONG time, just to remind me of it, was:

"You are the greatest in the world."

Now who else does this happen to?  Not me that's for sure!  I want to know if there is anyone out there who get's cookies/fortunes like my "Golden Boy", or if the rest of you get ones like myself?

Build-A-Bear?

How about a dinosaur and a dog?

For Christmas Grandma Deane gave the boys gift certificates to Build-A-Bear and we finally just got around to taking them.  They had a blast picking, stuffing, dressing, washing and naming their newfound friends.

Brayden named his dog Riley after his best friend from school and we named Andrew's dino Kix cuz we picked out a soccer outfit.  However, after getting them home Andrew wasn't too fond of the name Kix, he kept telling us "No, dinosaur".  So he has now been nicknamed "Dino".

Family Valentine's Day Traditions

When Brayden was very little I started some fun Valentine's Day traditions.

So the boys always wake up with their bedroom doors "Heart Attacked", which is a lot easier now that they both share a room.

Then they usually get a treat and a little present left on the floor in front their door from us.  This year it was some little crispy chocolate soccer balls and baseballs and a video.  Brayden got one of my all time favorites from my childhood, The "Chipmunk Adventure" movie and Andrew got a Dora video, of course, since he has a little crush on her.

                                       (what's with the face Andrew?)

Next year I think I might add another tradition and have a candlelit dinner with my boys.  Thanks Cee Cee for the idea!  She does this with her family and I think it's so cute!

Does anyone else have any other fun Valentine's Day traditions I can steal?

Fun, Frolicking, Fondue, Flicks (oops! I mean Rock Band).

So it all started with a little invitation...

2008 02 17_0376

(which we made and might I say turned out really cute) that invited the boys to a "Little Black Dress Event".

Which was all TOP SECRET!!!

And when the arrived they found this...

(I hope nobody thinks we're heathens (sp?), but it's nice to feel sexy every once in awhile, plus my dress only cost me $13.99)

And this...

And this...

fondue

(We had a swiss cheese fondue, a beef and chicken fondue, and OF COURSE a chocolate fondue...It was delicioso!)

And then we were going to do this...

the holiday (watch a chick flick)

But instead decided to do this...

rock band ( I think the boys were happy with our split second change of mind)

And then we all went home and did this...

sleeping

We had a blast!!!  I hope everyone else's Valentine's Day was as memorable as ours.  Next year hun, it's all up to you!:)

Nothing to say...

Okay, so I have the URGE to blog, but don't really have much to say.  Life's been pretty slow lately, which at times I am very grateful for because then that means nothing bad is happening either.  The kids have been healthy for the past couple weeks, we're doing the daily grind and "living the dream" as my friend's husband always says.

However, I am VERY excited for Valentine's Day this year, because myself and a couple of my friends have planned a rocking evening for our husbands.  I can't say much because I don't want my husband to catch wind of what we're doing but it's gonna be fun and I'll have lots of pics to share later.

Does ANYONE else have any fun plans for Valentine's Day????

Home Alone!

It seems I am not the only one home alone this week-end (Alexis), but after many years of being married, working hard, giving me breaks for "girl's night out", Matt has decided it was his turn.  His good friend Don turns 30 this week-end, so his wife Janna wanted to surprise him by flying Matt out for Don's b-day.  They are going to have a true guy's week-end with no kids, the Nintendo Wii, lots of Madden football to be played, maybe a few GUY'S movies, and the Superbowl.  Which I truly am excited for them.  He really deserves a break and I'm sure you will read more about it on Matt's blog when he gets back.

So, I am trying to fill my time with hanging out at friend's houses, getting my house cleaned and trying to keep the kids entertained.  Oh, and watching LOST!!!!  Not so smart to watch this one at night by myself however...Did you see it?   Aaaahhhh, crazy!  I can't wait til next week.  Have a great week-end everyone!!!!
